How does someone go about modifying the Virtual Memory settings on Windows XP? For reasons I cannot recall, I have a small C drive and I have a huge G drive. One idea I have for keeping my C drive from filling up is to move the Virtual Memory to the G drive. But it has been a long time since I tried something like that. The last time I experimented with the virtual memory settings was on a windows system before Windows XP. I notieced while running a defrag prorgam that my C drive has a huge area designated ...

hi everybody does any one knows how to clear the page file, while running windows. With out shutdown or reboot, just clear the page files. Is it possible or not Even rebooting may not actually clear it. The only sure way that I know of is with this registry hack http://www.tipsintime.com/104.htm Quote: Some information may stay in the page file such as passwords and secure information after shutdown that could be accessed. If you wish to have more security, empty your page file at shutdown. Heres how. ...

Question? How do you make the Virtual memory into more? My one program keeps telling me I need more? What operating system are you running? Assuming Windows 7 (ignore if not) right click Computer, click properties, click Advanced System Settings, then advanced, settings and advanced again, then you can see the virtual memory. Click change to make any changes. I use windows XP home, and Fire Fox as my browser! It's my AGV virus that tells me that fire fox is using to much virtual memory? Reboot your system ...

I'm using NTI CD Maker Gold to convert mp3's to wav. After I convert the files to .wav format I start the burning process to CD. Every time I get about half way through and I get an error message. It will tell me either: Medium Error, Slow down the copy speed, clean off cd, or try new cd. Every time. Even when I use nero it gives me an error too. I've tried both my cd/dvd drives and I still get the same results. This is a new problem that I've just encountered. Any solutions would be appreciated. Thanks. ...

hi i hav win XP prof running on a 1.5GHz P4 with 512MB ram and 40GB hard disk i have made one entire partition of 2 GB for swap or virtual memory... does too much virtual memory slow down the system? As far as the size of the pagefile, only thing it could hurt is if you fill up your hdd and run out of space for other stuff. You know you can see just how much of your pagefile you're using in task manager, performance tab. The PF Usage (in MB) is how much you're actually using. Allocating 2 gigs for virtual ...

I like to help my neighbor with her computer cause shes new at it. She has a nice machine its an AMD 1.2Ghz with 256mbs of ram. She was complaining about the computer being laggy so i defraged both her drives and cleaned up all the junk file and checked for spyware and viruses (i found no viruses). It helped a little but it was still laggy (it was slow opening common programs like word and even getting windows fully loaded after reboot took a long time). i noticed the available ram was only 60mbs in idle ...

I'm posting this hoping that anyone having problems with Dell computers (Windows 7) maxing out Virtual Memory, and freezing/lockup problems as well as Blue Screens will find this beneficial. I recently purchased three Dell Optiplex 380 PC's for work, and customized them to include a wireless card which apparently is a Broadcom card. During prep for our network, I noticed that after an extended time, (anywhere from 6-10 hours), the computer would pop-up an error stating that "The computer was low on Virtual ...

I am running Vista 32-bit with 4GB of memory. I have a dual monitor setup and as a consequence I find that I often have TONS of things open at once. I'll have 1 or 2 instances of firefox open with multiple tabs in each, an excel spreadsheet, html editor, ftp software, photoshop, windows mail, etc etc. It works fine for a while, but inevitably starts getting slower and slower until I finally have to reboot. I am wondering if upgrading to a 64-bit operating system and increasing my ram might help with this ...
