I've been looking into the various options for implementing multiplayer (internet) in iPhone games. Game Center, OpenFeint etc are obviously very good, stable and feature-rich. But I can't help thinking my needs are a lot simpler than what they provide. If I wanted to put together a simple 2d tank game, could I not just.. -setup a mysql server on the web, with some get/set php scripts to actas 'web services'. -when you open the game, a call is made to the server, to log that you're 'available'. -when you ...

I am hearing since the beginning that pagerank doesn't effect SERP but today morning while browsing through adword learning center i found this text "In Google's organic results, relevancy to the user's query is determined by over 200 factors, one of which is the PageRank for a given page." It clearly says that pagerank is one of the governing factor. What's your opinion guys? Good morning. Have a cup of coffee for this blog post. Quote: Google uses a multitude of factors to determine how to rank search engine results. Typically, these factors are either related to the content of a webpage itself (the text, its URL, the titles and headers, etc.) or were measurements of the authenticity of the website itself (age of the domain name, number and quality of inbound links, etc.). However, in 2010, Google did something very different. Google announced website speed would begin having ...

From SearchEngineLand.com: http://searchengineland.com/google-...ng-factor-39708 It’s Official: Google Now Counts Site Speed As A Ranking Factor Apr 9, 2010 at 2:00pm ET by Matt McGee Google has kept a promise it made last year: Site speed is now a ranking factor in Google’s algorithm, and is already in place for U.S. searchers. But Google also cautions web site owners not to sacrifice relevance in the name of faster web pages, and even says this new ranking factor will impact very few queries. More ...

Hi, I'm new here ... just signed up today. I'm interested to hear views on url canonicalization (www.ourdomain.com.au vs www.ourdomain.com.au/index.html). Does this negatively impact search engine rankings in your opinion? And if you think it does, is a 301 redirect (permanent) the best solution? Many thanks for your input and advice. Yes, and yes. Duplicate content is filtered out, which means that only one URL is taken into consideration. So if people link to the other URL, this means nothing. It's far ...

hey everyone, Any noticeable evidence on impact of social media and local SEO? Thank you Hi there, Actually local SEO is not that different from (normal) SEO. What I mean is that the website ranking factors still play an increasingly important role even in local SEO. Talking about Google, G+ and Twitter are definitely very important. Furthermore, Flickr, Panoramio, Photobucket and others, are very good citation sources for Google Places. If you add to all this Facebook, you could get the picture with Bing. ...

I have some websites with US contents and US traffic; now I've moved them to a new server in Canada because of a good deal. Does the Canadian IP of my websites affects my ranking in google? Yes, I'm sorry to say that it does. This is well documented and from our own experience it makes a big difference. I suggest that you move back to US based servers. Make sure that you have all of the US based location and contact info as text on all pages so that your site is associated with that region. Google ...
