Has anyone successfully trademarked the name of their app, where the name just describes what the app makes the iPhone behave as? For instance, can an app named simply "Camera" be trademarked as a piece of software that makes the iPhone (or other device) act as a camera? I noticed that the maker of the app "Flashlight" puts (r) after the name, and yet there is no entry in the PTO trademark database for "flashlight" as a software application, so the maker may just be slapping the (r) on without having ...

Curious... I was renewing my domain name with Godaddy, when they told me that I should register it for a longer period of time. They claimed that google was using, in their patent technology, a spam filter that monitors how long a domain name is registered. The theory is that the longer the site is registered, the more likely that it was not a spam site. Now, the question is: a) this is a ploy to get me to register for a longer period of time with Godaddy. b) This does have an impact on rankings in google. ...

Well, first of all, let me explain my case... I'm not a webmaster, and I have very few notions of SEO. I'm a webwriter and I'm being paid to write articles FOR a SEO page (of which I don't have the adress yet, sorry for that) mostly about Google. So I decided to join this forum in search for more accurate information, in order to write better articles, since it's a subject that I'm not completely into. Anyway, I have to write an urgent article on the following topic: "analize why Google SERPS always ...

Anyone have any experience with apple with this? I just got a notification. I say "fan app" but that didn't seem to appease. What if I said "unofficial"? Will apple go to bat for me? Or will they just do whatever the tradermark holders say? Anyone with any real experience on iTunes who's been in this situation? Yep. I got my first World Cup app rejected few days back. If that name is trademarked, you basically CANNOT USE IT in anyway. Just remove the name and replace with something else. For eg, for me, i ...
