Okay so I want to make the background colour selection on my site better. Namely, using cookies rather than URL variables. Can someone direct me on how to go about doing this? I searched on PHP.net but there's not tutorial on how to do it. http://alistapart.com/stories/alternate/ Have fun Alternatively, reading a cookie in PHP is just done by accessing the $_COOKIE superglobal array. Setting a cookie is done via [phpfunction]setcookie[/phpfunction]. Woo! Thanks very much

Google's Android 'Honeycomb' Seen as First Credible iPad Challenger Quote: In the year since Apple introduced its trend-setting iPad device, the company's would-be challengers have bumbled around like Moe, Larry, and Curly in a "Three Stooges" skit, bouncing off of each other and ultimately releasing little in the way of credible competition. This week, however, a legitimately credible challenger emerges in the form of a tablet-oriented version of Google's Android OS, codenamed Honeycomb. And it looks like ...

I personally think this is a positive move and should help to stabilize the quality of the Operating System and it's applications. Quote: In a disappointing move, Google has restricted access to the tablet-oriented version of Android, also known as Honeycomb. Version 3.0 of Android, which many have called a fork of the mobile OS (and now it looks like they were right), is now closed source, with access only going to OEMs and specific developers. While Google claims that they don’t want people ...

Quote: The XOOM, and more importantly Android Honeycomb, is definitely a work in progress. I can only conclude that the tablet version of Android is not ready for prime time. Motorola’s foray into the tablet space captured a lot of attention at the CES early this year. The XOOM is now available for purchase from Verizon and reviews are popping up all over the web. The overall impression the XOOM has created with reviewers matches my own based on an hour spent with the tablet this month. The XOOM, and ...

Pardon my newbie stench. I'm awaiting my Toshiba Thrive and have read that certain android apps aren't built for it. Is there a place where I can see what sort of Honeycomb apps are out there? Thanks Just read the developer description/comments. If it doesnt work you'll know Do note that that is not the full list of Honeycomb COMPATIBLE apps. Most apps/games will run just fine on Honeycomb, I noticed. There are way more apps that work with Honeycomb then shown in that thread. ...

I am considering getting a tablet and there is an extremely well priced and rated one on amazon A1CS but it runs 2.2. Now am I able to download honeycomb from somewhere and update my device myself instead of waiting for the update to come from the supplier? If I can, where can I download it? Unfortunately, with many "no-name" devices, the manufacturer will never update it at all. Fortunately, there is a workaround. You can root the device and install a custom rom. The problem with this, not every device ...

We have an ipad vs Xoom thread. How about a Honeycomb vs iOS thread. Really the battle of the OS is where the war will be fought. When the ipad 2 was announced and I still had not received my Xoom I must admit I had a few doubts about Xoom purchase. The aesthetics of ipad2 look really nice especially the thin profile. Xoom is more powerful in many ways but ipad 2 has some great design appeal no doubt. But there is another thread for Ipad vs Xoom so lets keep this one to just the OS discussion. After some ...

Google is set to call the next iteration of its mobile OS Android Honeycomb, following on from the tablet-friendly Gingerbread platform. Multiple sources have confirmed to us that the next version will be called Honeycomb, although details of what this upgrade will bring are still sketchy. It's likely that it will be more of an incremental upgrade, in the same manner as Android 2.2 (Froyo) was to Android 2.1 (Éclair) as Google seeks to perfect the new platform on tablets and high-end smartphones. That ...
