I am making one of those niffty images that tells your IP / BROWSER / OS/ ECT. I wanted to have the image include the referring page(HTTP_REFERRER), the problem is, if I link the image, it gives the page the user is currently on. Is there a way I can make the script include the URL from 2 pages ago? Example: User goes to: boards/index.php?board=01 Then clicks in a topic: boards/index.php?board=01&topic=01 Inside the topic, my sig pic will use "boards/index.php?board=01&topic=01" as the reffered page. I ...

I have seen many threads, many scripts, many topics, many tutorials where it explains that globals need to be turned off? I have absolutely no clue what this means, and are using arrays safer to use that just normally inputting data? How can i avoid this type of situation? I think it's because many php applications have vulnerabilities that can be exploited if global variables is left on. Even the phpBB board has one that can be exploited. A quick Google search for : globals + vulnerabilities will show you ...

I'm thinking that the answers should be fairly simple, but I've used perl a bit for cgi stuff and VB for asp stuff, but I've never had any experience with php until I installed the phpbb for a sports place that a friend and I are currently developing. The Background: We have a php board established. We ran three separate sports pools, one for NFL, one for March Madness, and one for NHL playoffs at a different site over the last year or two. We're combining all this for a variety of reasons and so far so ...

Ergh. I know you guys have to deal with n00b webmasters a lot, so I'll try to keep this short. My friend (conorific) and I are trying get a forum up on our webserver (UNIX, 1 GB, HVDN broadband connection). We're looking for a small, customizable PHP/mySQL script. After trying phpBB (too large), and edgeboard (evil), we decided to appeal to a higher authority. So. If you've used any forum scripts before, which one worked best for you? I'm considering the following: MercuryBoard punBB XMB ...

Background: As stated in an earlier question, I'm attempting to write a sports pool script compatable with the phpBB database. I've made some slow-but-sure progress. The more I do this, the more impressed I am with the folks who wrote this board script! I think I went in over my head when I started this project (considering I knew nothing about php when I started it), but I am tenacious about it, so hopefully, I'll get it. However, I do have one little snag that's been driving me nuts for about 3 days now. ...
