Hi I'm trying to install Windows XP Home Edition. So I turn on my computer, and it boots to the CD, and goes to the setup, start of the installation. So it asks me what I want to do. So I click enter, as I want to install windows xp, then I agree terms, skip the partition part, and it starts to install. It says its copying files. Then after the bar hits 100%, it tells me its going to restart in 15 seconds. So once it restarts it should go the windows xp home edition and start installing, and tells you how ...

So i installed vista and i also have Windows Xp on dual boot. I had done that so that if i face problems in vista i will have XP as backup. Anyway Vista has actually surpassed all my expectations and requirements so im thinking of removing Xp to free up space on my drives. Also another problem is that because of having 2 windows i actually have to install each software individually on both the windows so it now takes double the amount of space. So i was wondering if someone could tell me how to ...

Hi...I apologize if this question has been answered previously. I am currently running XP Home and wish to reformat the hard drive and install Windows 2000. Unfortunately I don't have a XP Setup Disc...is there anyway to reformat the drive without the XP Disc? I thought about installing Windows 2000 and booting to it and reformatting from there, but it tells me the version of 2000 I have is older than the version of XP I'm running and it disables the 2000 setup! AAAAAARRRRGGGGHHH! Any thoughts or ideas ...

If you are looking at getting a computer with XP the last day of OEM sales is October 22, 2010. Support will continue until April 2014, according to Microsoft. Quote: We know you love Windows XP, and you're in good company. Millions of Windows XP users are fans of the operating system, and many depend on Windows XP to run earlier applications and hardware that is not compatible with Windows 7. Windows 7 is designed to be compatible with the most popular hardware and software products you use every day and ...

Hi all, I just got a new used computer for the accounting department of an organization I work for. The new machine is an AMD 800 MHz with 256 MB of RAM. If I want the machine to run as fast as possible (it's not on a network or the INternet, so security is less of an issue), should I install Windows 98 or XP? My impression is that Windows XP boots faster but requires more system resources to run, while Windows 98 boots slower but is not as resource-intensive. Windows XP is more stable too. I'm leaning ...

Is there any way to create a dual boot system with 98 and XP if I have XP already installed? I havent gone further than the installation screen of 98 where it asked to wipe out all non-dos partitions. I have a seperate partition with FAT32 but Win98 cannot detect it. Yup. Install Partition Magic, partition a couple of extra gigs and have PM reformat that section into FAT32. Then boot from the 98 CDROM and install to that partition. Windows XP should manage the bootup options automatically. edit: didn't ...

Here is a great free tool by Microsoft which allows you to speed up the boot time of your machine dramatically on Windows XP. Before I used this tool it took around 30-35 seconds to from the time I turned the computer on, until the time Windows completely loaded and I was online. After using this tool, which optimizes your system for boot performance, my total boot time was decreased to about 20 seconds! Anyway I strongly recommend you try out the little program if you are using Windows XP. Learn more ...
